Robin Jordan, Owner, Website and advertising designer and manager, and bookkeeper of Julian's Piano Bar & Casino Hello, My name is Robin Jordan, and my husband David and I are opening a piano bar themed around Julian Eltinge, who spent some time as a child in Butte, Montana and later performed here. The bar is scheduled to open in Late July, 2005 (God and the powers that be willing!) We are trying to find some historical gurus on Julian's career. Our motives are tracking down theatrical posters and artwork that might be available for purchase or lend/lease for the premises. Butte, Montana is currently a town with a changing economy. Although neighboring towns like Bozeman and Missoula (which have major universities) seem to be experiencing a good deal of growth, Butte has grown very slowly. Our mining history has left an environmental blight, which is slowly being remedied, and the mining industry seems to have waned as a major economic growth source. One thing Butte does have is a rich history and many historic buildings existing. Many of these buildings have been recognized on the National Register of Historic Buildings. Our business location, the Maley Block, is one of those sites. Tourism and utilization of historic buildings for 21st-century businesses is a big focus with current developers. We hope that our enterprise will be a new focal point for those curious about the interesting Butte celebrities of our past, and those who are anticipating doing business on the internet and through other electronic media. Locally, we hope to attract Butte's varied demographic groups. Butte has a loyal arts-appreciation community, many talented local musicians and thespians, and quite a few amateur historians. By offering a variety of entertainments, plus a quality atmosphere and products, we hope to appeal to the casual tourist and the local afficiando as well. We have a very "beginning" website started here. We hope to make this quite a bit more sophisticated as the business grows, but we have to start somewhere. I hope you will check us out. We are contacting some interesting people on the internet, including a gentleman who is writing a new book on historic drag performers. We're also attempting to contact a group that has been attempting to make a documentary about Julian's career. We will let you know more, and we hope to have this book and more material available soon for our visitors! Sincerely, Robin Jordan Julian's Piano Bar & Casino |
